January 24 - 28, 2012

A quick and early trip to Siesta Key that is mostly business. Replaced the rug in the living room (well over due), picked up the new swivel chair for the terrace (giving us 2) and while there, the garbage bin holder gave way, so we replaced it. Decided the best option is a trash can under the sink. Weather was beautiful and unseasonably warm! In the 80's.

December 27 - January 4

Christmas break in Siesta Key. Certainly the best time for Karen to relax. The weather is pretty good most of the week - in the 70's, except for the last couple of days. Even though, it stays dry while we are there. We discover a few new restaurants, include The Table - Creekside (in the same place as Phillipi Creek), Spanish Point Restaurant in Osprey, and the Floribean in downtown Siesta Key (where Patrick's used to be). We made the executive decision to get another swivel chair for the main terrace and order that from Patio Factory Superstore.

September 1 - 6, 2011

Labor Day Weekend is our favorite time to visit Siesta Key. While the weather is hot, the water is warm and the restaurants, roads and beaches are not quite as crowded. This trip was made more special because Karen bought me boating lessons for my birthday! We rented a boat and a captain from CB's and I got my wings (does that make sense?). As luck would have it, my friend Dave was down for the weekend and so, wanting to put my new skills to the test, we rented a boat a second time and I piloted it in and around Sarasota Bay and the Intercoastal. Dave has boating experience and was there in case I needed an assist - but I didn't!

August 3 - 7, 2011

Karen has to travel to Tampa for work and this coincides with my birthday. The solution? Spend my birthday in Siesta Key. Amongst our explorations, we take the LeBarge Sunset Cruise, which leaves from the Sarasota Marina and heads out Big Pass to the tip of Siesta Key. There we watched the sunset.

May 27 - 31, 2011

With lot's of trips before and after Memorial Day, we make it a short one. Nonetheless, this is the first time Karen and I have spent any time together since Febraury! Weather is great, water is warm and we relax with shell fish.

February 24 - 28, 2011

Making our way back from POP, with a stay over in Sarasota. Weather is beautiful and our time is relaxing. We are not the only ones hanging out, as CB's tin roof proves a popular hangout for our feathered friends.

December 26 - January 4

December 26 - January 4

With Karen's work schedule, the week between Christmas and New Year's is the best time for us to head down to Florida. The weather can be iffy. This trip the weather was cool, but sunny. So we focused on cool weather activities and dining. This included our first trip to the Mote Aquirium, and a visit to the Greyhound Races . We also visited a few restaurants that are best when the weather is cold. We also handled some needed business, including getting new pillows for the Master Bedroom and getting Verizon FIOS installed. Best of all, we got to see the results of having the trees trimmed to improve our view. What a difference!

September 2 - 7, 2010

Yeah, it is hot. But it is hot back home too. So what the heck, let's go to the beach in Siesta Key! We jet ski again! We also take our first visit to the Sarasota Farmer's Market, which exceeds expectations. Another night we visit a restaurant for the first time in Sarasota, Mattison's City Grille.

June 17 - 21, 2010

June 17 - 21, 2010

Our friends Ed and Ilonka visit us in Siesta Key! It is great fun for us to have our first non-family guests stay with us. Ed & Ilonka have a beautiful condo in the exclusive enclave of Jupiter, so it is a pleasure to have them visit our little corner of Florida.

April 29 - May 5, 2010

I have another business trip to Orlando, and talk Karen into joining me for a couple of days of R&R before work starts up. Shopping St. Armand's Circle is certainly an incentive.

February 23 - 27, 2010

February 23 - 27, 2010

Part of our trip to Puerto Plata, we spend just a couple of full days in Siesta Key. And it is cold! Take care of a few repairs around the place (including more towels) and hang the plaque we got while in Italy: Casa Basile!

November 20 - 28, 2009

Our first Thanksgiving in Siesta Key. Karen's Dad and Brother join us later in the week. But first we have a few things to take care of. The place is freshly painted and the patio furniture has been delivered. In an effort to prevent further flyaways, we bungee cord the furniture! We get to enjoy our new view too! Most important of all, we respond to customer requests and order and have delivered a King-size mattress, replacing the pair of twin size matress that were pushed together.

September 3 - 8, 2009

September 3 - 8, 2009

Wanted to spend Labor Day Weekend on the beach, so what the heck. Also, needed to meet with the painter to discuss details of having the place completed painted, including selecting the color. Also handed over the keys and 50% down. We also need to replace the Terrace table (yes, another one went flying) and selected a 4th chair to replace the one lost earlier in the year. This time we went with a swivel style chair, and a table with holes in it! But the greatest purchase of all was having the tree blocking our view of the gulf trimmed! Now we can see across the horizon between the buildings in front of us!

June 3 - June 7, 2009

Another quick trip to Siesta Key. Hey, we miss the place. Plus, with all the upgrades, want to be sure all is good. Tinkering with room layout is done. Also, finally acquire the beach cabana we have been trying to buy for the last few trips. Threat of thunderstorms does cut into some of our activities, but we are able to go parasailing. Very cool!

June 3 - June 7, 2009

April 30 - May 5, 2009

April 30 - May 5, 2009

I go solo, as I have business in the area. Other than jogging beachside, it is all business for me at the Anchorage too. I assemble the new TV stand and mount the plasma and figure out where to place it, rearranging couches, etc. I also finish assembly of the vanity chairs for the kitchen.

April 11 - 14, 2009

Karen's Dad and Brother join us for an Easter Break in Siesta Key. The weather is nice, except for one day. We rent a boat with Captain from CB's and take a 4 hour tour south to Venice - a very worthwhile trip. On the rainy day, we got to work. We take apart the monstrous TV cabinet, with the goal of replacing it. Unfortunately, Best Buy is out of stock of the TV and stand we want. So I order for delivery for my next trip. We also purchase new vanity chairs for the kitchen. These require assembly!

April 11 - 14, 2009

February 4 - February 7, 2009

February 4 - February 7, 2009

A very quick trip. The weather is cool. Down right cold the first full day, but at least it is sunny. Sliders are needed for the dining room chairs and we acquire and mount them. A theme develops as we get more high quality towels to complete the sets. We also get a binder and inserts and create a resource for our guests. Oh, a little shopping is in order.

December 26 - Jan 2, 2009

Our first trip to Siesta Key which is more than a business trip - we get to enjoy ourselves and take it easy. The weather is beautiful! We do make some improvements however. We purchase more high quality towels. Also, we change the lock and key for the front door. Finally, we decide to upgrade the dining room set and place an order at the Dinettes Unlimited. Thanks to Donna, the set get's delivered in our absence. Finally, we arrange with the folks at Siesta4rent to deliver a welcoming gift to our first guests. This includes gift certificates we purchase from local businesses.

December 26 - Jan 2, 2009

September 29 - October 1, 2008

September 29 - October 1, 2008

Visit Siesta Key for the second time. Though our stay is brief, got several things done. First, discovered that our terrace table flew away during our absence. Went in search of a new one. Ended up purchasing from the Patio Furniture Superstore. We also purchased high quality towels for both bathrooms - for our comfort and that of our guests. I also set up the DSL kit which came from Verizon. High speed Internet is now available at the #404.

July 25, 2008

Close the purchase and stay in our new condo for the first time. While our stay is short, we do replace the bedding in the Master Bedroom.

July 25, 2008
